On The Other Side..
Recently I had the chance to do a neat project. The Office of Public Information at the Tampa Police Department wanted to dress up the lobby at headquarters with some oversized photos of "Cops At Work". The TPD has a great forensic unit, but they are not trained in doing photojournalistic work for display. I figured, what a great way to show my work...and did the project. Now, they would like to do a story on me in the department newsletter, with a photo of me! Well, I don't have a lot of pictures of me, so I enlisted the help of one of my best friends and talented photographer Eddie Ocasio. I had given some thought to the shot and asked him to do something that had me in it yet showed the display. We did several different types of poses showing the large interior wall with lots of differents size images on it. Then we did some closer shots with just a couple of my images framed and on a room column. I liked those the best. 
The pictures you see are of TRT. That is the Tactical Response Team...what most people call SWAT. They are a great bunch of highly trained professionals and gave me tons of action shots. I have a great series of images from when they blew the door off a building for a tactical entry!
So, being on the "other side of the lens" was a little different for me. Believe me, I am not shy! But I am more comfortable being the photographer than the model.

Now here is the reason I'm glad when I have my camera bag with me. I was driving trhough downtown today, when I noticed some black smoke a few blocks to the east. By the time I cycled through a couple of lights at the intersections, the smoke was billowing. I made a right turn and there in the street
was this image. The first shots I took were before the fire department got there . This Cadi was a total loss as you can see. The fireman told me that that was the second one of the day. Maybe it's just the intense heat of the day along with the heat of the engine. In both cases, the people were driving the car, stopped and got out...and poof...car fire! ##
